edmond trailer - music by rich ragsdale this is the trailer for the film edmond directed by stuart gordon and written by david mamet it stars william h. macy, julia stiles, jeffery combs and denise richards- my brother and partner, kevin ragsdale, was a producer on it anyways - i wrote all the source music for this movie (including a really nice acapella gospel tune that my friends in spiralmouth performed it turned out so well stuart used it as the end credits music as well) as well as all the music in the trailer (most of the trailer music was originally composed for another film called THE NICKEL CHILDREN) the music in the trailer is very "post rock" ish like godspeed you black emperor or silver mount zion or something (the music in edmond is NOT like that at all though!) this movie is great - check it out if you get a chance hope you dig it! edmond alexander a short history So, my career as a Medical Illustrator began in 1967 at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. My career met a crossroad in the early 1970's when I became actively involved with the Marine Biomedical Institute's Flower Gardens Ocean Research Center on the Galveston campus. It was an amazing time for me. Would it be art or would it be photography or, a combination of both for me? Fate intervened and I was offered an opportunity to teach animation to medical illustration students in Dallas. In 1976 I joined the medical illustration faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas. Most of the work that I created at those two institutions was created on movie film and video tape. Sadly, the productions are no longer viewable because the machines used to play them are now antiques. There were many wonderful single concept medical teaching films created by Texas filmmakers in those days. Most of those wonderful films and the art that went into them are gone forever. Progress! In 1984, I formed Alexander & Turner with my partner Cynthia Turner. On our first marketing trip to New York, the focus of our Partnership changed. To our great surprise, Art Directors were enamored with our "film style" use of design, and especially color, in our medical illustrations - and questioned why we we were not creating work for print. Backpainting cels with Cartoon Colours moved to the front painting with an airbrush and the art took on a entirely new look. Within a year we had moved almost exclusively into medical illustration for print, followed two years later with a move from Dallas to Grayton Beach, Florida. Many years ago, when I heard Michael Jackson's Man In The Mirror, I thought it was one of the most remarkable songs I had ever heard. For years I had thought about creating a short filmograph history of my professional life using the song but the production scene I had left in Dallas was nowhere to be found in Grayton Beach. In the winter of 2006, having previously dismissed iMovie as a "tourist application", I decided to explore the icon that had been sitting on my OSX dock for a few years. To my great surprise, the rooms of expensive equipment that I had used to produce filmographs in Dallas were now replaced by a single amazing application from Apple. After twenty years of being away from any form of media production I have suddenly found myself "back in the groove" with iMovie. If given the task of presenting a short history of my life to include my love of art, science, photography and film making, individuals who have most influenced my professional development, and my wonderful 23 year Partnership with Cynthia Turner, I would have to choose this format. If I was given the space of a popular song to achieve the task, this would probably be it.
