tzigane 2 (bbc1 1969-1971)
Back in August 1969, this tape was in use alongside Tzigane 1 which was already in service, but this was originally intended as a replacement for Asia Minor and was introduced just before 625 line colour television found its way to BBC1 and ITV having had an already successful and fledgling start over on BBC2, hence the transferrence from 405-line to Test Card F without colour bars, but, by the way, until the more familiar overlay with the BBC1 ident written using a BBC2 subtitle-type font, also in use with the PM5544 which was about to be launched in 1971 anyway, the overlay had used the BBC1 caption in the rhombus boxes rather than BBC1 COLOUR to match its BBC2 counterpart, but by 1984 the testcard became digitised and allowed more room for a caption generator to overlay the network identity more easily. Also, this tape ended in December 1971 with the replacement One More Swing.

This particular tape began its life on BBC1 in November 1974 and lasted in service for only a year but survived the cull of the changes to most of the tapes around this time, but as I wasn't around back then one of the tracks sounds like the Love Story theme from the film The Godfather. Enjoy anyway!!!!
